Jennifer Brindle

Jennifer Brindle commenced with PHS in 2015 and is our Senior Hydrographic Surveyor.

Jennifer graduated from the University of Otago in 2008 with a Bachelor of Surveying degree. Jennifer’s first introduction to Hydrography was in her final year at University when a company was recruiting students to work in the Middle East. The whole concept was very exciting for Jennifer who jumped at the chance to try something new and she hasn’t looked back. During her time in the UAE, Jennifer had various roles including Base Surveyor, Project Manager, Offshore Hydrographic Surveyor and IMS Coordinator. This has provided her with extensive experience in all aspects of executing hydrographic survey projects.

One of Jennifer’s most enjoyable projects with PHS was the Skardon River Hydrographic Survey project in support of the Bauxite Hills Mine Project. It was vital that this project achieved IHO S-44 Special Order and the Ports Australia Class A standards and involved the establishment of two tide gauges, the development of a hydroid model, initial hydrographic survey of the river, progress surveys in support of sweeping operations and a post-sweeping final survey. S-44 Special Order sets the minimum requirements for surveys conducted for the safety of surface navigation.

Jennifer is a Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor Level 1 (CPHS1). CPHS1 is the highest standard of certification awarded by the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel (AHSCP) of the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI). CPHS1 is the benchmark for quality.

Jennifer comments, “The variety of projects I work on at PHS means that I am constantly learning new equipment, techniques and skills. I have never felt bored in my role as there always seems to be a new challenge to face. I love getting to visit new places and the ever-changing nature of the job.”

Jennifer has strong leadership skills and is enthusiastic about producing high quality, accurate data within project timeframes.
