  • Dredging companies

Our Processes

We use sophisticated computer systems and instrumentation to collect data for analysis. The volume and complexity of the data we gather is significant. As such, the need for rigorous quality management is crucial.

Every one of our surveyors thoroughly understands the intricacies of the equipment they control. They are meticulous in ensuring that all data input is accurate. Our team carefully reviews the data output before they pass to the next stage.

Certifications, Training and Professional Development

In 2021, PHS launched an internal professional development program in support of the company’s philosophy of encouraging employees to gain hydrographic surveying certification. The modules encompass the current requirements of FIG/IHO/ICA Publication S-5 Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors. Since 2008, ten employees have gained certification to Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor Level 1/Level 2 (CPHS1/2). PHS is committed to achieving ongoing excellence by ensuring PHS staff development and training is at the leading edge.

All projects are managed and approved by a CPHS1. CPHS1 is the highest level of hydrographic surveying certification attainable. Our operations team consists of seven CPHS1s. This certification provides clients with complete confidence knowing we have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of hydrographic surveys.

Maintaining our quality assurance principles is integral to our work. We believe that there is no substitute for quality. The safety of our team, subcontractors and all personnel who work with or near us is of paramount importance. We have a comprehensive library of policies, procedures and work instructions dedicated to maintaining a safe and injury-free workplace. This work ensures we maintain our professional reputation.

PHS values a healthy and safe work environment and promotes a Zero Harm attitude in an endeavour to stimulate and positively support all people to achieve outcomes, in a safe manner while contributing to operational effectiveness and business sustainability.

Since 2015, when data recording commenced, PHS has achieved 200,000+ injury-free hours, a record to be proud of. Having reached this impressive milestone, we are determined to maintain a zero-injury record. We achieve this through a commitment to policy and systems, leadership, accountability, consultation, education, awareness and worker participation.

At the end of 2021, two external audits were completed by ECAAS with PHS again achieving re-accreditation of our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems accreditation, demonstrating the PHS creed to strive for continual improvement.
